HINDI LANGUAGE

Hindi is an Indo-Aryan Language spoken in India. Hindi is often described as a standardized and sanskritised register of the Hindustani Language.Hindi, written in the Devanagari script, is one of the Government of India, along with the English Language.It is an official language of 9 states and 2 Union Territories and additional official language of 3 states.As a linguistic variety, Hindi is the Fourth most spoken first language in the world, after Mandarin, Spanish and English.

ORIGIN

India is an ancient nation. The people of India has been speaking and writing many different languages.Sanskrit is the oldest language of this nation and it was used by sages, scientists and poets at different times. Sanskrit is also referred as "Arya- Bhasha‟ or " Deva-Bhasha‟. Hindi is considered to be an inheritor of this Aryan language Sanskrit itself. During the time between 500 BC to 1000 AD, the Indian Aryan language entered a new age and a new language was formed and being developed. Mainly, folk languages evolved during this phase. The spoken form of language has evolved in the form of "Prakrit‟.In that period, this "Prakrit‟ language has developed and gone through three different phases.

EVOLUTION

Hindi language is the member of the Indo-Aryan group within the Indo-Iranian branch of the Indo- European language family.It is the preferred official language of India.In India,Hindi is spoken as a first language by nearly 425 million people and on a second language by nearly 120 million people.Hindi is written in Devanagari script.Most of the Hindi vocabulary comes from Sanskrit.The Indian Constitution has declared Hindi language which is written in Devanagari script on the official language of the union (Nation).The vast development of Technology has speed up the development of many Indian languages along with Hindi.It started with the establishment of the mission of Technology Development in Indian Languages (TDIL),under the development of electronics in 1991. The printing of books, journals, magazines, newspapers and government documents played a major role in the development of Hindi language during 1981-1990.Various departments under Central Government and state government;it is mandatory to use Hindi as official language.So, there are various posts wide open for Hindi language as Hindi Officer, Hindi Translator, Hindi Assistant etc.A degree/Diploma in journalism/Mass Communication along with academic qualifications in Hindi is an advantage for a job seekers.There are job opportunity in foreign countries also,Post Graduate in Hindi language.One can always choose the traditional option teaching Hindi at school, College and Universities as teacher and professor in India.The important of Hindi language is in the from of the second most language in the world after Mandarin It's estimated that nearly half billion people speak this wonderful language worldwide. Every year millions of tourist come from across the world visit India.The ability to speak and understand Hindi increase the opportunity of enjoying Indian culture, history and Hindi is an ancient language that has not only had tremendous impact on World history,but continues to have tremendous impact on the world today.

FATHER OF HINDI LANGUAGE

Hindi is a direct descendant of Sanskrit through prakrit. Amir Khusro is credited to have called it ''Hindvi'' first time in 1283AD.According to the Government of India, Bharatendu Harishchandra (1850–1885) is the father of modern Hindi language.He was one of the finest writers of modern India, famous for writing dramas, poems and travel accounts.He has edited several famous works and has always stressed his fellow citizen to use Indian products.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Welcome to the Department of Hindi ,KMEA College of Arts and Science started its functioning in 2013. We offer a common course as additional Language for the students of B.Com. Language is the carrier of culture and it is the expression of ideas. The study of language and literature is essential for students to have a deep understanding of Indian literature and to learn the spirit of Indian culture as well as other cultures. The students who take Hindi as an additional language aim to become proficient in the National language of the country. It help the students to develop communication and Technical skills in Applied Hindi as well as Functional Hindi.

OUR MISSION

  • To develop the ability to use the language effectively for the purpose of practical communication and to make them think and express ideas, sentiments in the language.
  • To improve their reading and writing skill.
  • To enhance their ability to communicate effectively and acquire the pronunciation of native speaker by means of spoken Hindi.
  • To strengthen student’s ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate all forms of literary expression.
DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES

We are conducting many cultural programmes for promoting the Language and Literature and also the talent of the Students.The department of Hindi conducted online writing competition named 'Amritsar' which composed of events like story writing, poetry writing and collage and we have also organised a Webinar on the Topic SAMAJ AUR SAHITYA on the date 24/7/2020.
